DATART has implemented a new automated packaging line at its modern logistics center in Jirny, enabling the company to pack more than 20,000 parcels per day. This significantly increases operational capacity and overall efficiency.
At the heart of the innovation is the advanced Opera automatic packaging machine, capable of processing up to 900 parcels per hour. Compared to manual packing, this represents approximately a 20-fold increase in speed.
Responding to E-commerce Growth
The investment was driven by the rapid growth of online orders, which placed significant pressure on logistics operations—particularly parcel packing. During one of the peak months, DATART handled almost as many parcels as it previously did in an entire year, clearly demonstrating the need for a scalable solution.
The introduction of automation was therefore essential not only to manage seasonal peaks but also to ensure long-term operational stability and scalability.
Technological Uniqueness
The Opera machine, manufactured by the Italian company Panotec and represented in the Czech Republic by Packung.cz, is the first installation of its kind in the country.
The technology precisely cuts corrugated cardboard according to the dimensions of each specific product. The result is a perfectly sized box that delivers:
- Reduced material consumption
- Elimination of transported “empty space”
- Lower shipping costs
- More environmentally sustainable operations
- Remaining cardboard cutouts are reused as protective filling material for fragile shipments.
High Coverage and Future Development
In its current configuration, the technology is capable of automatically packing up to 96% of all orders. Future plans include full integration with the warehouse management system, enabling even simple single-item orders—currently packed manually—to be processed automatically.

- Pre-printing parcels with the DATART logo to enhance brand visibility
Modern Logistics Center
The automated packaging line is part of a broader modernization of the logistics center in Jirny. The facility also utilizes an automated small-goods warehouse, enabling order picking to be up to five times faster than in traditional warehouse setups.
Overall, the center is capable of shipping up to three million products per month, significantly strengthening the company’s ability to respond flexibly to market developments and growing customer expectations.
